Welcome to Nineteenth Street !

Highly recommend viewing on a desktop!

In this collection, you explore the adventures of the townspeople as they live ordinary lives. Neighbors, friends, and possibly lovers run around despite the mayor’s disdain towards them. You will mostly follow Conway, a peculiar young man to say the least, and wonder about his nature in this restored town. For more information, read the Expected Questions at the bottom.

Expected Questions

Question: What in the world am I looking at?

Answer: An attempt to model my thoughts. This is an experiment to force me to visualize beyond my usual capacities. Often times, people are confused by my work, and I don’t think it’s because of the language per se, more so the inability to visualize the chaos. I throw the reader into fast-paced moments and though I think it is fair, some readers simply shut down. So, this diagram is intended to ease the tension a bit and help me linger in the stories a little longer.

Question: How do these poems differ from your usual work?

Answer: These poems are different in two ways: their emotional drive and their framework. All of my work before Nineteenth Street is driven by desperation and hopelessness but these pieces are on the other end of the pendulum as they are pure mania. The more I write about Nineteenth Street, the more I see the grotesque nature of it all and I hope to convey it as I continue. Secondly, these poems are intimate in terms of their characters; everyone has a name and a role in their town. The lack of infamy allows me to delve into so many concepts and I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the effects of a community.

Question: Will you do more diagrams for mini-series of poetry?

Answer: That is up to you all! Personally, I only need this one for its image-heavy poetics but if it helps you all enjoy it more then I will. And you can let me know your feelings and/or questions by sending me a message on Instagram: @g.e.gresha.
